We understand that the County Show can be a busy and sometimes overwhelming environment, especially for those who are Neurodivergent or have sensory sensitivities.
The County Show includes a wide range of attractions and performances, many of which take place in Show rings using PA systems to provide commentary and enhance the atmosphere for visitors. Alongside these, are the natural Show background sounds such as livestock, horses, steam engines, and large crowds.
Noise Considerations:
Quieter Areas to Explore:
Please note, in all these areas and across the site, the Show can still be considered louder than other environments due to the nature of the event.
Planning Your Visit:
The full Show Map and Timetables will be available on the Show homepage from early August. These will help you to plan your route and identify quieter times and areas across the day.
Helpful Tips:
If you, or a child in your group is sensitive to sound, we recommend bringing sound-dampening headphones or ear defenders to make the experience more comfortable.
We are committed to making the County Show as welcoming and inclusive as possible.
The Show is made up of attractions, mostly taking place in Show rings, utilising PA systems for information and atmosphere. This added to the sound of visitors along with animals and Steam Engines.
Speakers for the Main Ring, Countryside Ring and Livestcok Rings are placed around rings, do consider standing away from them.
You may find Livestock Areas, Church Tent, Hill Top Area, Countryside Field quieter – the best place for some peace is near the Lake beside the Woodland. When the Axemen are not performing (11:30 and 15:00 for 30 minutes), this is the for a quieter experience. The Livestock Sections generally finish judging by early afternoon, and by lunchtime on the Sunday. This results in less PA noise in these areas.
However, please note, no part of the Show will be totally silent.
The Show Map and Timetables are available on the Show homepage from early August. These will help you to plan your day.
If you, or a child is sound-sensitive, you may find using sound-dulling headphones a good option.
